25 -26 June - Onboarding Smyrill line and arrival Faroer
26 juni 2016 - Tórshavn, Faeröer
The trip from Hirtshals -Danmark to Iceland, started yesterday...with a stop of three days in the Faroer as from today 26th of June.
The boarding on the Smyrill line yesterday went well, rather long waiting time before the onboarding itself....3 hours! Suprised about the huge number of people getting on the boat. Just a few bikers which grouped together immediately. Kai and Julie from Germany, Beno from Germany as well, Samuel from Austria and Aurelia from France. They all seemed to be experienced in bike traveling ...I figured out I have too much luggage with me, despite the fact I feld well prepared ;-)
Anyhow, we discussed tips and tricks, certain routes and were advised on "have to see" things by a Faroer guy as well.
The Smyrill line is for sure a great way to travel to Iceland. The boat has a good comfort level, good cabines, great food, and the outside decks are covered a certain places...which allows you to be protected from the wind.
We passed the Shetlands and arrived in Torshavn, Faroer , 19h after departure from Danmark.
arrival Torshavn, Faroer - 22.30PM
Arriving at night in Faroer is bizar...it looks like arriving in the afternoon on a rainy day!
Before getting off the boat, we needed to queue together with the "big brothers". It seems that Iceland is a populair destination for motorfiets and Campers as well. I read that about 1,3 million tourists will visit Iceland this summer season. That is about 4 times the total Iceland population! !
Enjoy and keep on giving us some news and pictures :-)
