27 June - Streymoy and Vagar Tour
27 juni 2016 - Tórshavn, Faeröer
Visiting really started today. I decided to discover the different islands from the Faroer by car. The interesting places are so dispersed over the different islands that it is impossible to visit them by bike in just a couple of days. The Faroer is a group of 17 islands, connected with each other by boats, bridges and toll tunnels.
So I rented a small car (Suzuki Swift) , and started my visit on the main island Streymoy. The capital city Torshavn is located on this Island.
My first visit is a little town in the south: Kirkjubøur. Known for the great view and the typical black houses with grass on the roofs.
The road to the north is just fabulous, great landscapes and mostly sunny.
Between Torshavn in the south and Vestmanna in the north, I took the tunnel to the second Island Vagar. Impressive views on the road to Bour and Gàsadalur. I needed more than just 2 eyes to see and enjoy the views out there!
I ended up with a boat trip in Vestmanna on the Streymoy Island. This boat brings you along the cliffs, which are really impressive when you see them from the see. Birdlife is very rich on those cliffs, and I saw even to well known the puffin. You were brought so close to the cliffs that it was recommended to use a helmet.'.in case stones fall down.
