13 July : Seydisfjordur

13 juli 2016 - Seydisfjordur, IJsland

This is my last day on Iceland grounds. I arrived in Seydisfjordur on the 11th of July. And the unexpected happened : Despite the fact that all weather sites reported bad weather in the region, the sun came through and created a marvelous blue sky these 2 passed days.

I really enjoy this way of traveling: putting your tent and luggage on a central spot, and taking the bike for several trips in the region, coming back every evening. No fights anymore with the bike and the luggage weight. This luggage is a limiting source of possibilities for sure. It limits you to get on challenging tracks, and is a negatieve factor on speed and balance. Glad I decided this way of traveling ...should have done it long before !

Yesterday, I spend all day to bike the fjord of Seydisfjordur...a beauty, especially when the sun is playing with the colours.

After lunch, a fresh smoked salmon from Iceland, and some local bread, and Skyr (the Icelandic yoghurt) . A local fantastic lunch : fresh smoked salmon from Iceland I walked the mountain in the fjord as well, in order to get to the great Budara waterfall. Impressive views from up thereThe Budara waterfall in Seydisfjordur   The Budara waterfall.

Today, I took up the challenge to climb the mountain from Seydisfjordur to Egilsstadir again with the bike! Highway to Hell :-)The one I took the first day on my arrival. It is a hard one, with 10% over a 13 km turning road. It was raining, cold and very misty that first day on the 30th of June, with even some snow at the top. Today it went perfect: nice biking weather, not much wind, 7-10°C, no luggage, ..and a clear view to enjoy the views! And I made it! I reached the top in 1h and 10 minutes. I really enjoyed the landscapes up there...so relaxing and great silence.I did it ! The final Climb to Egilssradir again...
